Success Story of the Month

Staffing Solutions Company based in Mumbai registered on our platform and was looking to acquire multiple staffing company for his portfolio across India. After understanding buyer’s requirements, we proposed them our “Enterprise” plan to which they agreed. As a part of the plan, we started our market research and looked for suitable opportunities on and beyond the platform.

Based on our research, we found a host of suitable businesses across India. Of these, a few businesses showed interest in the proposal and were connected with this buyer. One of the businesses based in Hyderabad that wasn’t interested at that time got in touch with us after 3 months with interest in the proposal to sell its staffing solutions portfolio.

Since the buyer was looking to acquire multiple businesses, we were aware that the requirement is still active and we got them both connected over a tele-con. Over a series of meetings, exchange of documents, negotiations, term sheet, etc., a deal has been struck and the buyer has acquired the staffing solutions business from the seller at a good price.

Hospitality Industry in 2016

The Indian Hospitality Industry is one of the fastest growing sector of the Indian economy. It can currently also be called the Sun Rise industry of India and is a significant source of FDI, to be precise USD 136.3 billion in 2015 making it the 3rd largest foreign exchange earner for the country.

India is emerging as the largest market for tourism. The portfolio offered is very diverse and vivid and includes products from adventure tourism to medical tourism and from religion and spiritual tourism to cruises and sports tourism.

The Indian hotel industry normally experiences high demand during December to March covering more than 60% of the total annual revenue but increase in domestic travel is bringing about a change in the pattern over the last few years. The industry provides high employment to skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labour resulting in higher employee-to-room ratio (1:6) compared to other countries.

The various government initiatives like Incredible India and Athiti Devo Bhava are providing the additional push to ensure a constant growth and development of the industry. Other initiatives like the medical visa to encourage medical tourism, Tourist Visa on Arrival for 43 countries, allowance of 100 per cent FDI through the automatic route, 5 year tax holiday offered for 2, 3 & 4 star hotels located around UNESCO World Heritage sites is aiding to not just the number of tourists visiting the country but also the direct foreign investment received by the sector for development of new hotels, resorts and other facilities.

An emerging trend in the hotel industry is the development of hotels in cities as against in major metros. This is influenced by lower land and labour costs in these areas along with availability of good number of facilities and tourist activities, resulting in rise of cities like Jaipur, Hyderabad, Pune and the neighbouring cities as the upcoming tourist destinations. This has also led to increase in the development of hotels as chains and expansion of local as well as international brands in the country.

The penetration of internet and smart devices in our lives is seen in the hospitality industry as well. More and more visitors are researching about their destinations and the possibilities it offers before making any decision and more than ever higher importance is given to personalised services and customer reviews as compared to brands and reputation built over years. As a result even the hotels are focusing on customer satisfaction and consistency resulting in customer retention. According to an estimate 8.4 million Indians are likely to book hotels online in 2016 as compared to 3.5 million in 2014.

The Indian hospitality industry is currently showing quite bright prospects and with the rise in global economy as well as encouragement of domestic tourism along with hosting of various international trade fairs, sports events, summits etc, Indian Hospitality is ensured to boom more and more in the coming future.
